Khan calls for public input on scope of US FTC noncompete ban proposal

( January 5, 2023, 18:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary:  US Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan invited public comment on the contours of regulations proposed today that aim to ban employers from imposing coercive noncompete agreements on workers, calling for broad input from market participants “critical to our efforts.” Khan requested specific feedback on a "rebuttable presumption" of illegality for noncompetes affecting senior executives and high paid workers, coverage of franchisors and franchisees, and the competitive effects of trade-secrets law and confidentiality agreements. Khan also responded to a dissent from Commissioner Christine Wilson, defending the agency’s authority and evidentiary basis for the proposed rule.See attached document....
