DuckDuckGo proposes legislation to enforce 'Do Not Track' signals

( May 1, 2019, 15:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Privacy search engine DuckDuckGo has proposed federal legislation that would require websites to honor a "Do Not Track" signal sent by a person's browser. DuckDuckGo said that its research shows that about 75 million people in the US, and 115 million citizens of the European Union, are broadcasting a DNT signal, but those signals are frequently ignored by websites. "While DuckDuckGo actively supports the passing of strong, comprehensive privacy laws, we also recognize that it will take time for them to take effect worldwide. In the meantime, governments can provide immediate relief by enacting separate, simpler Do Not Track legislation," the company said.Press announcement follows in full. See attached bill....
