DOJ seeks default against Karimova, others in Vimpelcom bribery forfeiture

( April 22, 2016, 18:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice on Friday asked for a default judgment against Gulnara Karimova and others in a forfeiture action seeking $550 million related to telecommunications bribery in Uzbekistan. Karimova, the daughter of the Uzbek president, and others named in the action are accused of conspiring to take bribes in exhange for cellular licenses in Uzbekistan. DOJ filed the action in February when Netherlands-based Vimpelcom reached a settlement with US and Dutch authorities in the criminal case.Please see attached request for default judgment....
