Swedish biofuels tax exemption can be prolonged under state-aid rules, EU says

( October 8, 2020, 11:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Swedish users and producers of liquid biofuels can continue benefitting from exemptions from the country’s energy and carbon taxes for an extra year until December 2021, the European Commission said today, as the prolongation is in line with the bloc’s state-aid rules. The EU regulator found that the levy exemptions are “necessary” and “appropriate” for stimulating the production and consumption of domestic and imported biofuels, without unduly distorting competition in the bloc's single market.Statement follows....
