Drivers must still be approved by an official transport operator, and must hold a P endorsement — involving a person check and police check — and must work within set time limits. Certain requirements will be removed, including the need for drivers to obtain an area knowledge certificate, which is now deemed less necessary with GPS mapping technology. The proposals will be submitted as part of the Land Transport Amendment Bill for parliamentary review this year.  ...
