But the Competition Bureau Canada is still considering an appeal, and the transaction must get approval from the minister of innovation, science and economic development for the spectrum transfer, so the parties can’t close the deal just yet. The Tribunal’s reversal, which follows many other recent flips of the Bureau’s merger challenges, could be the catalyst for the government to strengthen its competition law, which is currently under the review.
