The company was accused of fabricating documents on emissions tests for 79 models of 32 types of vehicles. The carmaker also ultimately could face fines worth up to 10 billion won ($8.8 million) for each type. This could amount to fines of up to 320 billion won in total. The government also said that even if the company files administrative litigation against the decision, it is likely that the government will win, because this is clearly an illegal activity.
