Regulation in federal passenger transportation market harms competition, Cofece says

( April 10, 2019, 16:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Mexican competition authority has released a study finding that regulation in the federal passenger transportation market generates competition issues that prevent price reduction. The Federal Economic Competition Commission, or Cofece, said the regulatory framework in the sector inhibits the participation of more companies in different routes in the country, which ultimately reduces customers' options for lower prices. According to the study, 29 companies operate in the market, but only one company provides services to 76.8 percent of the 5,877 routes in the country.Cofece statement and study follow below in Spanish....
