EU may lack 27 billion cubic meters of gas in 2023 but gap can be closed, IEA says

( December 12, 2022, 12:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU may be short of 27 billion cubic meters of gas in 2023 if Russian deliveries halt and Chinese liquefied natural gas imports rebound, but additional actions on energy efficiency, energy savings and gas supplies, as well as on renewables and heat pumps deployment, can close the gap, the International Energy Agency has said in a new report. The IEA has proposed to add administrative resources and simplify procedures to accelerate the permitting for renewables; more financial support for heat pumps; and to change tax rules penalizing electrification.Press release follows.
