Tighter EU waste shipment rules endorsed by governments and will become law

The waste shipment regulation aims to reduce shipments of “problematic" waste outside the EU’s borders and ensure that it is “properly treated in an environmentally sound manner.” The regulation bans the shipment of all waste destined for disposal within the EU, except if agreed upon and authorized under strict environmental conditions, and maintains a ban on shipment to non-OECD countries.
