Google condemned by Open Internet Project over plans to change Android search

( August 5, 2019, 14:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google's plan to auction space on Android devices for users to choose a default search engine on their device has been condemned by the Open Internet Project, which claims the move perpetuates the anticompetitive behavior around the Android operating system for which Google was fined by the European Commission in 2018. "The OIP condemns the fact that Google now expects its competitors to pay for being findable and selectable by users as this merely exchanges one abusive conduct for another, and thereby continues to deprive consumers of a genuine choice and to distort competition," the association said in a statement.OIP's press statement is attached....
