( August 7, 2017, 22:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Attorney General Jeff Sessions denounced a City of Chicago lawsuit aimed at blocking a Justice Department policy requiring cities to cooperate with federal immigration authorities in order to receive public safety funding from the federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program. As part of its stepped-up anti-immigration policies, the Trump administration is going after so-called sanctuary cities for undocumented aliens. Chicago has to "a degree perhaps unsurpassed by any other jurisdiction" adopted "a policy that obstructs this country's lawful immigration system," Sessions said. "So it's this simple: Comply with the law or forego taxpayer dollars."See document below....
