New EU rules weaken competition and broadband development, VATM says

( January 22, 2014, 15:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU policy shouldn’t dictate which products consumers should favor and use, the president of the German telecom association has said. Removing Market 1 and Market 2 from EU regulation would have a negative impact on competition in innovation, the body added, explaining that only competition in services by infrastructure-based network operators will help to create well-functioning and efficient competition in the telecom market. The organization is against unilateral policy that favors just one model or one market player, because such an approach hampers a sound mix of services and infrastructure competition.Full statement in the German original: follows...
