EC Statement: State aid - Italian employment aid; Hungarian export-credit guarantee scheme; Refractarios Especiales; R&D project Theseus; Kia Motors Slovakia

( July 19, 2007, 09:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has started an infringement procedure against Italy for only recovering a small fraction of illegal aid granted to companies recruiting workers on certain types of contracts, and opened an in-depth investigation into a Hungarian export-credit guarantee scheme. It also decided to refer Spain to the ECJ for failure to recover state aid granted to Refractarios Especiales, and endorsed aid to Theseus, a German research project testing new internet search technologies. There was also clearance for aid to Kia Motors Slovakia to expand a car manufacturing plant.The commission's press releases follow....
