Liberty Global, Telefónica assert their JV raises no competition concerns

( February 24, 2021, 14:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Liberty Global and Telefónica have maintained that their joint venture is pro-competitive and will make way for lower prices and give greater scope for network investment, in their response to the UK Competition and Markets Authority's issues statement, published today. The companies said they have no incentive to foreclose fixed Mobile Virtual Network Operators from the wholesale mobile market, and that the JV won't have the power to foreclose other Mobile Network Operators. Rival provider Sky said in a response it is concerned the JV will have a significant adverse impact on competition by harming Sky Mobile. Another rival, Vodafone, said it believes the deal will lead to a substantial lessening of competition and could lead to reduced network investment.The responses are attached....
