Ryanair's appeal of Spain's EUR10 billion Covid-19 aid heard by EU court

( February 24, 2021, 12:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Ryanair is at the EU General Court today, seeking to contest Spain's 10 billion-euro state aid program. The program is to the benefit of non-financial undertakings in Spain that experienced temporary difficulties as a result of the Covid-19 crisis and that are deemed to be of “systemic or strategic importance,” among other conditions. Ryanair, in its appeal brought in October, argued that the European Commission ignored the damage caused to pan-European airlines by the crisis, and that it failed to properly weigh the beneficial effects of the aid against its adverse effects.
