Singapore bill proposed to improve financial institutions resolution regime

( July 5, 2017, 08:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: Singapore Education Minister Ong Ye Kung made a speech in parliament yesterday about the proposed Monetary Authority of Singapore (Amendment) Bill 2017. Ong said the bill would introduce important enhancements to the regulatory regime for financial institutions in Singapore, which would help MAS to resolve distressed financial institutions in an orderly manner. The bill would achieve greater operational efficiency within MAS, Ong added. The bill introduces a statutory framework for MAS to recognise resolution actions taken by a foreign resolution authority on financial institutions in Singapore.The text of the minister's speech follows: ...
