EU legislators back tougher rules for universal chargers

By Nicholas Wallace ( April 20, 2022, 17:29 GMT | Insight) -- EU lawmakers want to standardize wired and wireless charging of electronic devices, but leave room for exceptions. Legislators in the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee of the European Parliament voted today to expand the list of devices requiring universal chargers, and oblige the European Commission to introduce rules for wireless charging by the end of 2028.Electronics companies could face tougher rules on mandatory universal chargers if a committee of EU lawmakers in the European Parliament has its way....
