​Privacy accountability patchy in private sector, international survey finds

( March 5, 2019, 01:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: There appears to be less focus on privacy accountability in the private sector than in the public sector, according to the findings of an international privacy survey coordinated by New Zealand's Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the UK's Information Commissioner. The survey was carried out by 18 data protection and privacy authorities around the world, contacting 667 organizations to look at what processes were in place to respond to data breaches. New Zealand's privacy commissioner, John Edwards, said that public sector agencies generally had much more sophisticated policies and practices.
