Many countries have poor governance of natural resources, new research says

The 2017 Resource Governance Index, composed by the Natural Resource Governance Institute, found that less than 20 percent of the 81 countries assessed achieved good or satisfactory overall ratings. The group also examined how transparent state-owned enterprises and countries' sovereign wealth funds were about the way the managed the revenues generated from natural resources. The group has called on governments to implement transparency measures, such as the public disclosure of the beneficial owners of extractive companies. ...
