Platinum, palladium traders seek to revive US antitrust case against Goldman Sachs, others

( August 6, 2020, 20:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Plaintiffs have asked a US court of appeals to rule that they can bring claims accusing Goldman Sachs, HSBC, BASF Metals, and ICBC Standard Bank of manipulating platinum and palladium benchmark prices. They say that courts have long recognized antitrust standing for those who, like them, traded a physical commodity or its exchange contracts that were manipulated or corrupted. “Limiting antitrust standing only to those who can satisfy a dominance showing, or who transacted directly with a price-fixer, would dis-serve the compensatory and deterrent purposes of private antitrust litigation, effectively gutting private enforcement in benchmark manipulation cases.”See document below. ...
