Japan slams growing protectionism in 2017 trade report

( June 28, 2017, 01:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's trade ministry has released its 2017 white paper on international trade, criticizing increasing protectionism in the US and elsewhere. Global trade is often cited as a cause of growing income disparities, but free trade in fact reduces such disparities by promoting exchanges of people and goods, the report said. The report said Japan should attract direct investment from abroad and hire highly-skilled workers from foreign countries. It also discussed free-trade agreements that Japan has signed so far and is currently negotiating, according to a summary of the white paper posted on the trade ministry's website. ...
