Prices should be monitored, price gouging should be banned, Australian union study says

A report into price gouging and unfair pricing practices commissioned by the Australian Council of Trade Unions has recommended that the Australian government establish a commission on competition and prices to review government and other restrictions on competition and high prices caused by a lack of competition in the sector. The study, authored by former Australian Competition & Consumer Commission Chair Allan Fels, has also called for competition laws to be changed to make it an offense to charge excessive prices.The full ACTU study is attached. ...
