Austria's CRIF faces data-protection complaint for refusal to reveal credit-score method

( August 4, 2020, 12:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: CRIF, an Austrian credit-rating company, is facing a data-protection complaint for refusing to disclose how it calculates consumers' credit scores. Noyb, a privacy advocacy group, said that a customer was denied a service contract from an electricity supplier because of a low credit score from CRIF. The customer asked for an explanation of how the score was calculated but CRIF declined to provide details, arguing that it can't disclose trade secrets. Noyb filed a complaint at the Austrian data protection authority that CRIF hasn't fulfilled its obligation under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation to ensure that personal data is correct.
