Mining, medical services, cosmetics and air-conditioning deals approved in Brazil

( February 23, 2016, 12:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Brazilian antitrust agency has approved four deals following fast-track reviews. Brazilian mining company Vale and Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel have received Brazilian antitrust clearance for their planned deal involving the transfer of stock in iron ore company Minas da Serra Geral, or MSG. After the transaction, Vale will be the sole stakeholder in MSG. Additionally, Brazilian hospital operator Empresa de Serviços Hospitalares won antitrust approval for its plan to buy some of Sociedade Hospital Samaritano’s facilities and plants that operate in medical-assistance services. Separately, US cosmetics and fragrance company Coty has received antitrust approval to acquire 49 percent of Coty Brazil Retail Cosméticos’ capital and voting rights held by Frajo Internacional de Cosméticos. Finally, automotive spare-parts maker Valeo Holding has gotten the agency’s nod to buy Spheros Holding, a manufacturer of independent heating systems, water pumps and air conditioning.OJ statement follows in Portuguese....
