Lithuanian GDPR lawsuit on declarations of private interest reaches highest EU court

( August 3, 2020, 15:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Organizations processing personal data will get clarity on the publication of declarations of private interest on their websites, after a Lithuanian court asked the EU Court of Justice to interpret a case involving the country's Chief Official Ethics Commission. The Vilnius Regional Administrative Court wants to know whether the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation — on processing information for the performance of a task in the public interest — require the disclosure and publication online of declarations of private interest. The court asks, in particular, whether such data should be disclosed, if it reveals sensitive information such as a person’s political views or sexual orientation.3.8.2020...
