EU Commission invites comments on changes to German film-funding law

( December 5, 2014, 11:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission is seeking feedback on measures that Germany notified as part of the amendment of the nation’s film-funding act. The new measures will add to the scope of existing aid granted to the film industry. The notified changes are intended to make the aid also available to video-on-demand distributors established outside Germany, for the distribution of German-language films over the Internet to customers in Germany. The new measures, which affect a law that was approved in 2013, take the form of a tax that Germany charges on video distributors’ turnover. The deadline for comments is Jan. 6, 2015.The notice is attached....
