UK's May offers lawmakers mechanism to extend Article 50

( February 26, 2019, 13:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK prime minister Theresa May has offered lawmakers the opportunity to vote in support of an extension of Article 50, the exit clause of the EU treaty, if the UK withdrawal agreement is rejected in a further vote on March 12. The extension could last only until the end of June, the prime minister said, due to the need for the UK to participate in EU elections. As a result, the extension does not obviate the risk of a no-deal exit altogether, May said. The UK will also offer enhanced protections on workplace rights alongside the withdrawal agreement, in order to maintain alignment where desired with EU practice.Statement follows....
