EU Commission urges economic-crime compliance in Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece, Spain, Slovakia

( April 6, 2022, 10:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU rules on fraud and money laundering have not been sufficiently applied in five countries, the European Commission said today. The commission gave Belgium two months to complete measures in the EU’s anti-money laundering directive and warned that the case might be referred to the Court of Justice. The commission also called on Luxembourg, Greece and Spain to comply with EU rules on combating fraud and counterfeiting of non-cash transactions. These three countries have not transposed the rules, despite a warning from the commission last July. Separately, Slovakia was told to amend its transposition of the fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive, as there are "several instances" of incorrect implementation, the EU executive said.Statements follow...
