West Penn Multi-List, US brokerage firms face amended antitrust claims over commission fees

( January 29, 2024, 22:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: West Penn Multi-List and Berkshire Hathaway, Coldwell Banker Realty, and other brokerage firms are engaged in a localized version of nationwide, collusive practices that illegally inflate broker fees paid by buyers in residential real estate transactions, according to an amended antitrust complaint filed in Pennsylvania federal court. Brokers within West Penn MLS’s service area, comprising an approximately $8 billion per year residential real estate market, face "insurmountable barriers" to compete outside of a conspiracy where rules created by the National Association of Realtors are enforced by the defendants to impose supracompetitive charges on home sellers, the complaint said.See document below....
