Washington-area house of Gambia's former president sought in forfeiture by US Justice Department

( July 15, 2020, 22:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A suburban home, purchased for $3.5 million in 2010 by the then-president of Gambia, Yahya Jammeh, is the subject of a forfeiture action by the US Justice Department, which says Jammeh acquired the purchase-funds through corruption. The DOJ, in its forfeiture complaint, said that as president of the West African country from 1994 to 2017, Jammeh misappropriated $300 million.
