Advocacy groups: Leading US trade groups warn against product-specific exclusion plans in Trans-Pacific Partnership trade talks

( August 22, 2013, 14:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US business and farm lobbies have voiced their strong opposition to what they say are plans by US trade negotiators to propose general exceptions targeting specific products in ongoing talks for a Pacific-region trade pact. In a letter sent to US Trade Representative Mike Froman Thursday, the US Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Manufacturers and 14 other groups warned against "the last-minute inclusion of a product-specific reference to tobacco or any other product and to related additional language pertaining to dispute settlement."The text of the letter follows in full below....
