Trump disputes US argument that Meta, YouTube were insulated by Section 230 in suspending accounts

( February 23, 2022, 01:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Former President Donald Trump argued in a court filing that the US government incorrectly argued that Meta Platforms and YouTube were protected by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act in their independent decisions to suspend Trump's social media accounts. "Defendants engaged in conduct that amounted to violations of the First Amendment; therefore, they cannot claim immunity under Section 230. If Section 230 were applied to Plaintiff in this case, then its application would be unconstitutional due to Plaintiff’s rights under common law," the former president said in parallel filings in cases against Meta Platforms and YouTube over the suspension of his accounts following the Jan. 6 attacks on the US Capitol.See attached documents....
