Facebook pushes back against District of Columbia bid to read Zuckerberg emails

( February 15, 2022, 20:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Facebook accused the District of Columbia of "seeking anything that might bolster its case" rather than allowing the case to resolve on the merits in a memorandum opposing a renewed effort by city attorneys to search the emails of Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg. Washington DC Attorney General Karl Racine is suing the social media giant for alleged violations of consumer protection law related to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. "The District hopes that, because a new judge has been assigned to the case, it can achieve a different result with the same failed arguments," Facebook attorneys wrote, alluding to a temporary change in the superior court judge overseeing the case made in late December 2021.
