( May 9, 2017, 09:53 GMT | Insight) -- Toshiba has warned Western Digital to stop "interfering" in its planned sale of its semiconductor operations, the Financial Times reports, citing a letter sent on May 3 by the general manager of Toshiba's legal affairs to the US company, in which it threatened to block Western Digital employees from all Toshiba premises and databases. In the letter, Toshiba lawyers accused Western Digital, which operates a joint chip plant in Japan with Toshiba, of mounting an improper campaign of "intentional interference." In April Western Digital demanded exclusive negotiation rights and argued that the sale of the chip venture without its consent would be a breach of the agreement between the two joint-venture partners.
