‘Crucial year’ ahead for electric cars, EU Parliament report says

( January 9, 2019, 12:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Electric cars should get a boost from EU regulators this year, with Europe still a long way from the widespread uptake of clean electric mobility, says a report prepared for the European Parliament. The EU "still needs to address problems such as high upfront costs and a limited offer of electric vehicles compared to conventional ones, and limitations of the electrical grid, charging infrastructure and batteries," says the report, which sets out "10 issues to watch in 2019" for parliamentarians. "For all of these issues, 2019 will be a crucial year," it says. Generating renewable energy from the sea, particularly from waves, tides or marine currents, will also be a priority for EU regulators this year, the document adds.The report is attached. ...
