Essendant says Staples deal US approval delayed by government shutdown

( January 8, 2019, 21:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Final approval of the Staples-Essendant deal by the US Federal Trade Commission has been delayed by the partial shutdown of the federal government, Essendant's president and CEO Ric Phillips wrote in notes to customers and associates disclosed in a securities filing. "We remain confident in receiving approval in early Q1 of 2019 despite this delay," he said. The shutdown has affected the FTC's work and the timing of a number of approvals, the filing also said.Excerpt....
