Former defense contracting official sentenced to 30 months on guilty pleas for bribery, tax evasion charges

( January 8, 2016, 16:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A former defense contracting officer Friday was sentenced to 30 months after pleading guilty to accepting bribes to reward construction projects in Iraq and to a related charge of tax evasion. The bribes were from a contracting company based in Jordan. The US attorney's office also said in an e-mail that the defendant also was sentenced to forfeit $577,828 and pay $115,435 in restitution.See statement below....
