China issues draft guidelines for identification of important data

( January 14, 2022, 03:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s national standard-setting body on information security has released a set of draft guidelines relating to the identification of important data. The guidelines, up for public comment until March 13, will help data processors determine what constitutes important data, and provide relevant references to authorities and different industries when they formulate important-data catalogues. It lists 14 factors to gauge, such as whether the data contain information on human genetic resources and sensitive geographic information. The guidelines say statistical data and derivative data based on troves of personal information could possibly be important data, although personal information itself isn't included....
