Bergen handed provisional GDPR fine by Norway's data privacy watchdog

( May 20, 2020, 13:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Norwegian municipality of Bergen has received a provisional fine of 3 million kroner* (around $330,000) from the country's data-protection authority for breach of the data protection rules. The penalty comes after the municipality notified the watchdog that its new digital home-school communication system did not comply with requirements under the General Data Protection Regulation, the authority said in a statement today. The Bergen municipality failed to implement technical and organizational measures to achieve a suitable level of security and confidentiality, and integrity of personal data, the authority said. The intention to fine is not yet final, and the authority's final decision will follow in coming months....
