MACC advisory board says no need for integrity commission to oversee agency

( December 1, 2015, 07:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- The advisory board at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, or MACC, has rejected calls for the agency to be placed under the supervision of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission, or EAIC, according to a release on the MACC’s website. Anti-Corruption Advisory Board chairman Abdul Aziz Ibrahim said the MACC was already an independent enforcement agency and that it would be unnecessary for it to be monitored by the EAIC. He said the current five independent monitoring panels overseeing the MACC's operations were sufficient. He also urged the government not to proceed with steps to amend the EAIC Act 2009 to abolish the provision that exempts the MACC from being monitored by the EAIC....
