EU steel-wire processors call on bloc’s executive to repeal safeguard measures

( May 14, 2020, 15:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Anordica, a Sweden-based steel-wire importer, and 18 other European steel processing enterprises have called on the European Commission not to tighten the bloc’s steel safeguard measures as part of the ongoing review. In an open letter to commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the companies said that “in the interests of the EU processing industry, the applicable safeguard measures against imports of steel wire should be repealed, rather than further reinforced.” The letter comes after Eurofer, the EU steel association, filed a request for a 75 percent reduction in import quota levels for steel applicable under the safeguard measures....
