Arcep should be vigilant with Orange’s copper network plan, French competition watchdog says

( October 26, 2023, 09:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: French telecom regulator Arcep should make sure that Orange's copper network closure plan is properly implemented, the national antitrust authority said today, in an opinion prepared at Arcep's request. Arcep should also intervene when the criteria applied by Orange don't guarantee competitive dynamics during the transition to superfast networks. The antitrust watchdog said that it also sided with Arcep regarding the “demonstration leading to the designation of Orange as the only operator exercising significant influence.” In addition, it called on Arcep to be cautious in opening up the business market to competition....
