Chanjiang Currency Exchange, seven people face money-laundering allegations in Australia

In two statements released today, the Australian Federal Police have alleged that the Changjiang Currency Exchange, a money-remittance company, allowed members of a Chinese organized-crime syndicate to run a “prominent, multi-billion dollar money remitting chain” that laundered almost A$229 million ($143.4 million) of crime proceeds over the past three years. Four Chinese nationals and three Australian citizens have been charged with involvement in the money-laundering syndicate. Changjiang Currency Exchange is now the subject of regulatory action by Austrac, Australia’s financial-crime watchdog....
