Comcast lashes out at 'naysayers,' highlights support for TWC acquisition

( September 23, 2014, 22:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: In a response to comments about its planned $45.2 billion acquisition of Time Warner Cable, Comcast on Tuesday highlighted support from mayors, governors and companies such as Cisco and TiVo for the deal. In a 337-page filing with the Federal Communications Commission, Comcast lashed out of the transaction's critics, such as Dish Network and consumer advocacy groups, calling them "naysayers" who have been making the same "apocalyptic forewarnings" about cable-industry consolidation since 1998. Comcast also accused programmers of requesting their their networks run on Comcast in exchange for their support for the deal -- an addition of programming traffic that would $4 a month to each customer's bill by 2019....
