New Zealand, China set FTA upgrade talks for April 25

( March 27, 2017, 05:17 GMT | Insight) -- New Zealand and China have agreed to begin talks to upgrade their free trade agreement on April 25, among other cooperation initiatives, following Prime Minister Bill English's Wellington meeting today with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, the National Business Review reports. The existing FTA, which came into force in 2008, has seen two-way trade triple to NZ$23 billion ($16.2 billion), which an upgraded FTA is aiming to boost to NZ$30 billion by 2020. The two countries also plan to cooperate further on corruption-related judicial and law enforcement issues, intellectual property, agriculture and mutual recognition of trusted exporters to reduce times for border clearance, among other initiatives.          ...
