Albemarle, Rockwood are in EU prenotification talks

( September 24, 2014, 08:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US specialty chemicals maker Albemarle says it has started the process of notifying its purchase of lithium producer Rockwood Holdings to the European Commission and China’s Ministry of Commerce. The EU regulator has asked the companies to provide “clarifications or supplemental information” before they formally notify the $6.2 billion deal, and Mofcom is likely to make a similar request, Albemarle says in a US regulatory filing. Albemarle says the companies don’t expect the review to raise any substantive antitrust concerns. They expect to receive the EU clearance in the fourth quarter of this year and a Chinese approval in the first quarter of 2015....
