Comment: Tech platforms feel heat in UK scam-ads debate as banks back fraud victims

By Fiona Maxwell ( November 19, 2021, 13:26 GMT | Comment) -- Banks will support a change in UK law requiring them to compensate their customers when shown to be genuine victims of fraud, but their acceptance of mandatory reimbursements will give them ammunition in their long-running fight for large tech platforms to face more legal accountability for the promotion of scams. Banks won’t push back against UK legislation that will see them having to reimburse genuine victims of fraud — but in return they will raise the volume on demands for tougher rules for online platforms....
