Rappi fined by Colombian data protection authority for failing to comply with legislation

( October 29, 2021, 21:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Food delivery app Rappi was fined 500.3 million Colombian pesos ($131,349) by the country’s Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, or SIC, for repeatedly failing to comply with the country’s data protection legislation, according to a statement. Rappi, on multiple occasions, failed to accept a user’s request to have his personal data deleted from the company’s database, SIC said. The company also failed to obtain prior authorization to store the user’s personal data and has repeated the conduct in other cases, the Colombian data protection authority said.
