Lawyers for Canadian who worked with Yahoo hackers call 45-month sentence sufficient

( May 19, 2018, 20:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lawyers for Karim Baratov, who has pleaded guilty to working for a group of Russians accused of hacking Yahoo, said in a court filing that Baratov should be sentenced to no more than 45 months in prison. US District Judge Vince Chhabria delayed Baratov's sentencing to gather more information, and Baratov's filing says “the 14 cases the government cites” to argue for a longer sentence “are highly distinguishable from Mr. Baratov’s.” His lawyers said because the Sentencing Commission data cited by prosecutors “is unaccompanied by a description of the underlying conduct of the cases,” the government cannot “meaningfully compare” it to Baratov’s case.Please see attached Baratov sentencing memorandum....
